For women, Pregnancy is supposed to be a time filled with hope, excitement, and dreams for the future. But in reality, that dream is interrupted by pain so deep it’s hard to put into words. I recently read the heartbreaking story of Lauren Stenhouse, a mother from Edinburgh, who has endured the unimaginable — losing three of her babies to the same debilitating illness.

Lauren’s journey is not just about loss, though. It’s more about courage. It’s also about speaking up when silence would be easier. It’s about turning pain into purpose.

After her third loss, Lauren decided to raise awareness and funds for Pregnancy Sickness Support, the UK’s only registered charity dedicated to helping women suffering from severe pregnancy sickness. Her fundraising isn’t just about money — it’s about letting other women know they are not alone in their struggle.

When I started From Bed to Birth, it was with the mission of creating a safe space for mothers to share their stories — not just the picture-perfect ones, but the real, raw, and sometimes painful ones.

Lauren’s story speaks to the very heart of that mission.

  • It’s about being seen

  • It’s about connection

  • It’s about advocacy

What Can We Learn from Lauren story?

Her story reminds us that:

  • Sharing your story can be a powerful act of healing.

  • There is strength in community. Support groups, charities, and platforms like From Bed to Birth are safe places to open up without judgment.

  • Turning grief into action can create lasting impact.
